Matter on Earth is generally found in one of three different states: solid, liquid, or gas. Another common state of matter that is much more rare on earth is plasma. The state of matter that a substance has depends on the arrangement of the particles, the attractions between particles, and the amount of energy the particles possess.

1.  Using water as an example, in one paragraph describe and list the three phases of matter that water exhibits, how it changes from one phase to the other and whether or not the mass of the matter changes as it goes from phase to phase.

three phases that water exhibits are water,ice,and water vapor.when ice starts to melt the matter will loosen up and turn to liquid and when the liquid gets heated up the matter starts to bounce around and turns in water vapor.the mass does not change.

Water can transform into three states of matter;liquid,ice and water vapor or gas. Water keeps all it's mass no matter what form it takes. Water freezes to make ice,water is always a liquid,and water evaporates to be a gas.

Ice,Water,and Water Vapor are the three phases of matter that water exhibits. When water is frozen it becomes ice and when the ice becomes unfrozen it turns back into the liquid state and then when that water evaporates it turns into the water water vapor state . When the three states of water change the mass usually does stay the same .

The three phases of water are. Ice ,water's solid form. water the liqid phase,and water vapor. Water's gas form. Ice changes to water from high tempatures, because the matter gets more energy and becomes a liqid. Then water changes to water vapor from even more heat. Ice has more mass than water and water vapor combined because a solid is solid shape and water and water vapor are not.

The phases of matter are the Ice phase,Water phase,and the Water Vapor/Gas phase.The phases change by the mass.When the ice phase changes then it becomes water.When the water mass changes then it becomes water vapor/gas.Water vapor/gas does not change,instead it just goes away.The mass of the matter of water does change and it moves away and it can move faster.The ice mass of matter does change because when it freezes the particles cannot move because they get so close together.The water vapor/gas mass of matter does change because the particles move away from each other and they can move rapidly

Solid It stays the same and it doesn't morph into other shapes, Unlike Liquid It can be molded into anything and its easy to move, Gas is something you can't see but its always around you no matter what

The solid of water is ice it will hold its shape then when you melt it turns into the liquid form of water witch is smooth a cold witch you are able to drink it then when you heat it up it turn into the gas from of water which is able to fill a container.

The first phase of matter is solid.Solid it holds its shape and have a definite volume because it can not move from place to place. Solids change into liquids by melting or get heated up.Liquids have a definite volume but doesn't have a definite shape.The next phase is liquid.Liquids change into a gas by water vapor.Liquids are still denser than gas.The third phase is gas.Gas does have both a definite shape or volume.

Liquid - When a solid melts and becomes a liquid.
Gas - When boiling water it evaporates and becomes a gas.

Mass stays the same.

If it is solid the particals are close tightly together and the particals are hard to move, you can move them if your strong enough.
particals in a liquid move around because therse is more space between them so it takes shape of what ever it's in.
Gas particals have a lot of room to move around because they are farther apart so they can be pushed into eachother.

There is solid,liquid,and gas... It changes from liquid which is water to solid which is ice and to gas which is water vapor and the only thing that changes is the matter because the only thing that expands is the water...

Water as a solid is ice. It becomes ice when you freeze it at 0 degrees Celsius, and 32 degrees Fahrenheit.. Water as a liquid is still just water. Water , when boiled becomes water vapor. The mass doesn't change.

There are three phases that water can take. Water can be formed into a solid, by freezing it. A solid holds a shape of it's container. Liquids can be made from a solid by melting it. Liquid holds the shape of its container as they don't have a definite shape. The last stage that water can take is the gas stage. You can make a liquid change into it's gas form by boiling the liquid past it's boiling point. The water begins to evaporate into little gas particles that disappear into the air. The mass changes from phase to phase. They still fill up the same volume but they lose some of the mass as the go through the three different phases.

Water can change to a gas, solid, or a liquid. For water in the phase of liquid to turn into a gas it would have to evaperate, for example if you would put a liquid (water) on a stove a but it on high if you wait a surtain amount of time the liquid (water) would be evaperated. For a liquid to turn into a solid you could put the liquid in a contaner and put in the freezer for a amount of time it would turn into a solid, and if you want it back into a liquid just leave it out in a hot enviorment.
