Technology is the application of scientific principles to solve problems and accomplish tasks. Technological design is the process of finding the best solution for a problem that is also within the given constraints.

Over the past 100 years technology has helped shape our lives more than ever.  For today I want you to explore the  website links below and discover what are thought to be the most influential inventions of the past 600 years.

Top inventions of the past 100 years
Inventions of each century

Assinment...
  1. List 10 influential inventions of the last 600 year, 5 from the past 100 years and 5 from prior to that.  Include the year of each discovery (10 points)
  2. Select 2 of the inventions listed in question 1 and in detail describe what impact each discovery/invention has had on society and who invented it (5 points)

The total amount of energy in a closed system remains constant. Energy can be converted from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed.

This week you are to explore the website below (click on the image below the assignment) and create closed circuits.  Try to create as many different possibilities as you can.

Assignment...
  1. Describe in a 2 separate sentences 2 working circuits you created on the website, please include all parts of the complete circuit you used. (5 points each, 10 points total)
  2. Choose one of the circuits from above and explain how energy is changing forms in your circuit. one sentence (5 points)
  3. Please post in the comment section, answer should be at least 3 sentences.

Trace energy transformation in a simple closed system (e.g., a flashlight). Covered by Study Island Topic:
Energy Transformations

Assignment...For this post you are to comment about your experiment you completed (at home) on the topic you submitted below...If you did not complete an experiment...you are to go to the website link below this paragraph watch a few videos and comment on 3 facts you learned from the videos on matter and energy.

http://www.neok12.com/States-of-Matter.htm    Scroll down on page to find videos

For this week you can choose from one of the following topics to investigate...
1....Investigate how matter can change forms but the total amount of matter remains constant.

or

2....Describe how an object can have potential energy due to its position or chemical composition and can have kinetic energy due to its motion.

To investigate you are to design and create an experiment to demonstrate your chosen topic.  You can research to find appropriate experiments...All topics must be approved by me!

Part one of this assignment is to complete the form below describing your experiment.
