Humans depend on energy for many activities every day. There are many different ways of obtaining, transforming, and distributing this energy, each of which has different environmental consequences.

Assignment...answer the following in the comment section...
  1. Select an energy source (renewable or nonrenewable) and make a case or argue why it is the best source of energy for people to use.  Include at least five facts about the energy source (for example, location, how abundant it is, is it renewable/nonrenewable, cost, and so on...).
  2. Include at least one professional source other than study island with your answer....no Wikipedia this time, fine a credible website dedicated to your energy source....copy and paste the web address in your post.

The best source of energy for the future is water energy...its forms are:
1. water energy in the form of tides can be utilised to generate electricity
2. when electricity is passed through water it splits into oxygen and hydrogen and the hydrogen can be used for almost anything..we shud be seeing this soon. imagine cars using water as fuel...this will even bring inflation under control...no cost on fuel will bring all prices down...govt bus/train services will become free, air tickets will be 1/10 th of what they are now...still a long way to go i guess

The worst form of energy is nuclear energy...though this is the easiest form of energy and can be used abundantly...imagine a nuclear head used in nagasaki cud have provided electrcity to a city for a year...
but its disadvantage is huge in the form of nuclear waste...
Nuclear waste cannot be processed and we'd require a dumping ground for depositing this waste...or probably search some means to dump it in the sun...nuclear waste in its present form if dumped anywhere will make the place in inhabitable for atleast 25-100 years...as the waste emits radiations.

i would not totally agree with TINA above specially for fossel fuel...the whole idea for alternative source is because fossil fuel is fast depleting...we should see a major energy crises soon, if technology doesnt develop soon....http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071125035937AAXqnG7

Hydroelectric is the best source of energy because it is renewable.
it is the only renewable energy source that is in some measure competitive with fossil fuels.it is clean renewable energy source that doesn't pollute environment.Hydroelectric uses the Earth's water cycle to generate electricity because movement of water as it flows downstream creates kinetic energy that can be then converted into electricity.Hydroelectric generates in the USA about nine percent of total energy supply.. my facts came from http://interestingenergyfacts.blogspot.com/2008/03/hydropower-facts.html

Nuclear energy originates from the splitting of uranium atoms in a process called fission. Nuclear energy is a nonrenewable resource that cannot be replenished on a human time scale. Power plants are regulated by federal and state laws to protect human health and the environment, there is a wide variation of environmental impacts associated with power generation technologies. Nuclear power plants do not emit carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, or nitrogen oxide. I think nuclear is the best because the fission energy can be used to make steam we need which is used to generate electricity.

I Think The Wind Is The Best Because , The Wind Always Give Out Energy Because The Wind Is Always Blowing , And The Sun Don't Always Come Out.The Amount Of Energy The Sun Sends Towards Our Planet Is 35,000 Times More Than What We Currently Produce And Consume.

Solar Energy i think, is the best energy to use because it comes from the sun. The sun is free so they only have to pay for the panels to collect the energy from.
The clean solar energy technologies will last long. It can reduce pollution and keep the price of fossil fuel low.
A disadvantage of using solar energy is that the sun goes away at night so, you couldn't power anything using solar energy then.

Wind energy is also an inexhaustible resource that comes from the movement of air heated by the Sun. As with solar energy, wind energy has very few negative environmental consequences, and these are mostly related to the manufacture and disposal of wind turbines.

Unlike the technologies related to solar energy, wind technologies are relatively inexpensive. So this is why we think that wind power is the best.

I think biomass energy is a good resource because it can be done anywere. Also it comes from living or recently living organisms.Biomass energy is also considered a renewable resource.

Wind Energy is the best source of energy people can use because it is renewable and affordable ,Wind is now one of the most cost-effective sources of new electricity generation. Wind is a source of clean energy that has virtually no polluting properties or side effects.

COAL

Wyoming mines the most coal, followed by West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Montana.

1. About 93% of the coal used in the United States is used for generating electricity.

2. the coal is used as a basic energy source in many industries including steel, cement, and paper

3. In addition to companies in the electric power sector,

4. industries and businesses with their own power plants use coal to generate electricity.

5. U.S. laws require that dust and water runoff from the affected area has to be controlled.

" Impacts of Coal Mining "

mining operations remove the soil and rock above coal deposits, or “seams,” disturbing land at its surface.

The most serious impact of underground mining may be the methane gas that has to be vented out of mines to make the mines safe to work in.

SUMMARY
Even though coal is a nonrenewable resource and pollutes the environment, it makes up for most of our resources in the world, and coal has been a reliable and effective resource since the early seventeen century.

Wind

Wind is a renewable, available resource.
Wind is available anytime you need it.
It is the best renewable resource because its free.
It could help you if you are hot because it cools you down.
The wind is strong it could go up to 100 MPH .
This resource can come from any direction.
In conclusion Wind is the Best renewable resource

A renewable source of energy is wind. It is the best energy for the people to use because you have to breath in the air or you won't live.Wind turbines are being used to convert energy to electricity . The air is much cleaner air but can not be reliable since the wind doesn't have consistence patterns. The U.S have at least enough wind to supply about 20% of its current electricity demand.

Wind is the best source of energy because its renewable and the wind is available at all times.Wind is also not polluting and is also safe for the environment. How much energy the windmill produces is based on the wind and dependent on the miles per hour it travels.Wind cools the Earth.Wind can produce electricity and heat.

Wind energy is the best cause it can be used multiple time and it is better. Then the nonrenewable energy cause it is the best for.All of use cause it means less pollution in the atmosphere.http://windpowerfacts.info/

The most common resource of obtaining energy is burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas. these fuels can be converted into other forms of energy in many ways. one way is production of electricity through coal burning power plants. Power plants are abundant and cheap. coal burning power plants are currently most effective.

Coal is a non-renewable fossil fuel. Coal is a sedimentary rock made mostly of carbon and hydro carbons. 92% of coal in the U.S is used for generating electricity. The U.S coal reserves are estimated to last only a little over 200 years at today's usage level. In Conclusion coal has it's uses in modern society, however as a main source of energy generation.
